I once sat exactly where you’re sitting right now. Okay, not in that exact chair, that would be weird. But metaphorically – embarking on the adventure of business school. My own journey has had a few twists and turns, from management consultant to MBA student to professional television writer. But when it comes down to it, I’m a storyteller at heart – and telling your story is the single most important part of the admissions process. Let’s work together to tell yours!
Why Top MBA Applicants Trust Me
I use my background in consulting, expertise in storytelling, and passion for supporting others to help my clients craft powerful, authentic applications. Here’s a bit about my resume:
- BA in Political Science with a minor in Statistics from the University of Chicago
- MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management with a merit fellowship
- Former management consultant at Kearney serving Fortune 500 clients
- Professional television writer for Disney, Warner Brothers, Adult Swim, and DC
My story: from management consultant to screenwriter
After college, I was over the moon when I landed my dream job as a management consultant in New York. My months of grueling case prep, late nights sweating over resume bullets, and dedication to stress-eating dumplings had finally paid off!
But to my surprise, I gradually realized that my heart wasn’t in consulting. While I was learning a ton, I realized that the best part of my day was after work when I would work on screenplays about scrappy underdogs fighting against the odds. I realized I was most happy on the nights I performed in improv comedy shows around New York. And most importantly, I realized I wanted a career that would combine my professional experience with my passion for storytelling.
So I applied to business school to pivot into the entertainment industry – and was thrilled to be admitted to my top choice, UCLA Anderson, with a merit fellowship. Anderson was everything I had hoped for. I interned at Paramount Pictures working on cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality projects, built film greenlight models for a production company, and partied at the Sundance Film Festival.
At the same time, I kept up my screenwriting hobby, which led to an unexpected and exciting opportunity. Just weeks from graduating, I got an email out of the blue from a Disney executive inviting me to interview for a TV writing job – it turned out someone had sent him one of my scripts! Suddenly, I found myself at a crossroads: stay on the MBA path I was on, or take a risk and try this screenwriting thing for real.
A few weeks later, I joined the writing staff of a new Disney TV show. Since then I’ve worked on 100+ episodes across five seasons of television for Disney, Warner Brothers, DC, and Adult Swim.
At MBA Protocol, I use the storytelling expertise I’ve honed as a screenwriter to help you tell YOUR story. I’ve written on a TV show about Superman – now let’s work together to show off your superpowers!
