Meet Your MBA Admissions Coach: Tiffany Shieh

Hello and 你好!

I’m Tiffany Shieh, your MBA admissions and career coach. I’m a calm, patient, steady partner on the long road to your MBA offers.

As a former Deloitte consultant and Microsoft business strategist, I helped executives untangle ambiguity, craft compelling strategies, and prepare for critical decisions. As a coach, I do the same for you — helping you connect the dots in your experiences, tell your stories effectively, and step into your MBA with confidence and clarity.

Whether you’re aiming to tell a more compelling story, clarify your goals, or simply make the process easier and more efficient, I’m here to help you navigate it with strategy, passion, and a lot of career wisdom.

Why Top MBA Applicants Trust Me

I use my background in consulting and tech and my passion for supporting others to help each of my clients aim high in their MBA applications while advancing their career goals in the process.

Here are some of my resume details:

  • I got my BS in Business Administration and BA in Psychology from UC Berkeley and my MBA from Berkeley-Haas.
  • I worked as a consultant at Deloitte for 5 years, including ~2 years in a role managing others.
  • I worked as a senior business planner at Microsoft, leading cross-functional teams to land executive decisions including pricing, product offerings, and sales targets
  • And I’ve spent the last 3 years coaching aspiring leaders to land job offers at top companies including BCG, Bain, Google, Amazon, and more.

I understand what it takes to be successful in the MBA application process. I gained admission to Berkeley-Haas, Wharton, and UCLA. I love partnering with others to help them uncover their potential. Through active listening and thoughtful guidance, I support people in pursuing what matters most to them.

“Thank you for everything. It meant a lot to me, and you showed me how to find myself again.

You have had a bigger impact on me than you know as I often reflect on our conversations over the last year and a half. You've really been there with me through some of my hardest times, whether you knew it or not, and I want to thank you! Thank you for not giving up on me, thank you for believing in me, and thank you for being judgement free as well as genuine.”

My Story: From Management Consulting to Tech to MBA Admissions Coach

For more than a decade, I followed a conventional path for a business major. I started my career at Deloitte Consulting, working on projects across various functions including strategy, innovation, process transformation, and mergers & acquisitions. Along the way, I earned my MBA at Berkeley-Haas and later worked at Microsoft developing business strategies for hardware devices.

As I reflected on my academic and professional career, the most interesting and rewarding experiences always traced back to developing others and building 1:1 connections. When I look back on my time at Deloitte, one highlight that stands out is writing letters of recommendation for a direct report who was accepted to top MBA programs including Harvard and Wharton. One of my proudest accomplishments is not a project deliverable, firm initiative, or a promotion. What I loved was playing a part in another individual’s journey to unlock new possibilities.

A few years ago, I took the plunge and became a career coach. Now, I feel energized by supporting the next generation of leaders to gain clarity, convey their story in a meaningful way, and realize their potential.

“This opportunity wouldn’t have been possible without your belief in me and your unwavering support. I am incredibly excited about this next chapter, and I truly appreciate all that you have done to help me get here.”
