Georgetown McDonough · At a glance
Brisk, practical, variable
About half an hour with a student, alum or adcom member who moves briskly through your goals, a Plan B, quant readiness, feedback, and where else you are applying.
Who interviews you
A real mix: current students, alumni and admissions staff.
Where
Most interviews have been virtual on Zoom. Recent invitations have encouraged in-person interviews on campus, so check your invitation for a virtual option.
Interview style
Hybrid behavioral + conversational
Every interview opens with tell me about yourself and goals, then mixes a handful of behavioral prompts (feedback, conflict, team role, putting out a fire) with pointed fit questions about quant preparation, other schools and barriers to matriculating.
Blind or application read?
Resume-based. Interviewers have worked from your resume and none referenced essays. Know your whole application anyway.
Scheduling
Invitations arrive by email, sometimes within a few weeks of submission, with a link to a scheduling portal and reminders a day and an hour before. Late-stage invitees found few slots. Most clients were not told who would interview them. Business attire was recommended even for a virtual interview.
Georgetown McDonough · What clients report
Inside the interview
What our clients say happens
Clients describe a brisk 25 to 30 minute interview that moves through a set list quickly. Follow-ups are minimal, and interviewers mostly move straight to the next question. There is usually some time for your questions, and one friendly student interview ran a little over because of it. Student and adcom interviewers seemed prepared and engaged. Some alumni interviewers seemed less engaged. Several interviewers asked directly about other schools, what the final decision will come down to, or whether anything could stop you from matriculating, which suggests yield is on their minds.
Business attire was recommended, but it felt like a casual, friendly conversation.
