UNC Kenan-Flagler · At a glance
Warm, scripted, self-reflective
Thirty friendly, tightly timed minutes working through a set list: who you are, what you value, how you lead and work on teams, and why Kenan-Flagler.
Who interviews you
Admissions staff run every Kenan-Flagler interview we have seen: either adcom members or agents of the adcom. Our clients have not been interviewed by alumni or students.
Where
Our clients have all interviewed on Zoom, from 2020 through 2026. The school also offers in-person interviews on campus and says it has no preference.
Interview style
Scripted, values-focused
Questions lean toward who you are (values, strengths, superpowers, leadership traits, what peers can learn from you) more than detailed 'tell me about a time' stories. Clients note the questions felt scripted and the time was strictly capped.
Blind or application read?
Application read. The school says interviewers review your application beforehand. In our clients' reports, questions stayed general (your journey, values, teams) and did not cite specific essays. Know your whole file anyway.
Scheduling
Most invitations arrive by email and you self-schedule. Admissions may also reach out by phone to set a time. Some clients were told who would interview them in advance and some were not.
UNC Kenan-Flagler · What clients report
Inside the interview
What our clients say happens
Clients report a short, friendly, tightly timed interview. It ran exactly 30 minutes whenever clients timed it, one called it rushed, and a recent client noted the cap left little time for their own questions. Interviewers did not probe deeply, instead moving through a set list: proud accomplishments, values, how you contribute to a team, how you lead, and why UNC. Some interviews add less common prompts, such as an ethical dilemma, a time someone upset you, or a superpower you wish you had. Interviewers seemed prepared in the sense of having their script, and our reports show no resume-specific follow-ups. The pace is quick.
The questions aimed for a balance between who you are and what you've done.
