Got into Stanford
I was putting in 12-hour workdays in a hastily converted linen-closet-office. I was quarantined away from my partner.
I can now proudly wear my “I learned to articulate my life’s purpose, and all I got was this lousy Stanford acceptance letter” t-shirt.
So Much More Than An Admissions Consultant!
I came from a lower socioeconomic status and clawed out of poverty by planning ahead and relying on my community for support. Yet, most people where I come from couldn’t tell you where Harvard is located on a map, and you’d be lucky if they had even heard of Stanford. Despite being a highly qualified deferred enrollment candidate, I didn’t have my community to help me on this one, and I was dreading going on that journey alone -at least, until I met Angela. I would love to say that I shopped around, but truth be told an HBS alum I respect referred her to me and between all the free resources on her website and the immense value she packed into our free 30-minute consultation, I was sold. I selected her 3 school package for HBS 2+2, Stanford Deferred Admission, and Booth Scholars.
I expected to face some imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and self-sabotaging humility during the process. For people like me who’ve spent their entire life being told they don’t deserve a seat at the table, those emotions are a given. I thought that would be the big hurdle I’d need Angela’s help to overcome, but Angela killed it before it could even show up. She had me start by writing the book on my life for her. I expressed everything that I thought could have possibly mattered to the experience of being me and hit send.
I will never forget the zoom call that followed. Like some sort of voodoo, she captured my essence, my story, my core values, and my character-defining moments into a PowerPoint reflection of my identity as it truly exists. She was able to articulate me -without all the lies I told myself, without all the biases of my lived experience, and without all the insecurities that kept me up at night. It left me, a burly manly man, in tears because I felt truly worthy and capable of taking on the challenge that laid ahead of me for the first time in my life.
We wrapped Stanford up quickly, but then the COVID-19 pandemic hit and my journey came to a screeching halt. I was putting in 12-hour workdays in a hastily converted linen-closet-office. I was quarantined away from my partner. I took on my parents’ financial responsibilities despite worrying about getting laid off myself. What finally brought me to my breaking point was having to say goodbye to my grandmother over Facebook Live while strangers “heart reacted” to her funeral with the same reverence they gave to cat videos. On top of this Stanford was taking their sweet time inviting me to interview, and I was sure I had gotten dinged. I was unable to function, let alone finish my applications.
Yet, Angela was constantly there for me. Not as an admissions consultant, but as a friend, mentor, and quasi grief counselor. When I felt like I was losing my mind she always had wisdom for the moment -providing equal parts actionable advice and compassion. With her help, I fought off depression and took back control over my life -just in time for my Stanford admissions interview invitation to show up. The only complication was that my Stanford alumni interviewer was General Motors CEO and Stanford Board of Trustees member, Mary Barra… Surely, Angela wouldn’t have any experience with that terrifying situation, right? Wrong, she’s had clients get interviewed by her before and gave me the direction I needed to absolutely slay it.
Angela Guido is certainly a voodoo shaman of the human spirit and a magical MBA unicorn, but she has a secret to her success. The truth is she couldn’t care less about whether I got into business school. Her engine is fueled by helping people find lifelong fulfillment, business school admission is the byproduct. I can now proudly wear my “I learned to articulate my life’s purpose, and all I got was this lousy Stanford acceptance letter” t-shirt. Thanks, Angela!

Let’s talk about my storyPrior to embarking on my MBA application journey, I hit rock bottom- I was losing my job, navigating an international move amidst COVID, studying for the GRE, and last but not least, going through a break-up.
I ended up with two acceptances (one M7 and one international w/ $) and one T15 waitlist.
My Coach & The Confidence Factory
My ROI working with my coach was hands down above and beyond my wildest expectations. I am a non-traditional applicant, mid 30s female, 11 years of work experience at the same company in a sales and business development role, LGBTQ, above-average GPA in social sciences, with a ton of international experience. Prior to embarking on my MBA application journey, I hit rock bottom- I was losing my job, navigating an international move amidst COVID, studying for the GRE, and last but not least, going through a break-up.
Starting with my initial consultation with Angela I could immediately feel the Career Protocol support web and instead of staying in my pity party, she helped me see a way out- a window of opportunity in the usually cursed Round 4/5 application cycle. After thinking about it for a few days I decided to take Angela’s advice to move up my timeline and maximize my opportunities. Before I knew it, I was on the arduous journey to meet R4/5 deadlines, an adventure that would end up being the greatest hustle of my life.
I expected my first discovery call with my coach to be her reading back the stories I had provided on the worksheet, telling me which to write about were, but it was so much more than that. She helped me contextualize from 30,000 feet the impacts of my accomplishments and built up my confidence over time to proudly and loudly wear them as a badge of honor, something that I have struggled with.
She gave me the perspective and framework to dig deep into wounds/painful stories, providing guidance on how and where to leverage them as opportunities highlighting character growth, culture fit, and grit. My coach’s emotional intelligence is through the roof- she was straightforward with me when I needed it and gentle when I was at my most vulnerable. Her ability to see the optimal structure and flow for each essay is a true talent- I never ever in a million years would have ended up with so many fantastic essays in such a short period of time that I was extremely proud of without her help. The first deadline we worked on was only 4 days away when we started the process but she woke up early and stayed up late with me every day to make sure I submitted on time. Working with her massively contributed to rekindling my passion for writing, something that will prove invaluable when I start my program as well as in my personal creative life.
I applied to five schools, all of which had deadlines less than two months away from my first call with Angela. I BOMBED the GRE, falling far below the median scores for all the schools I applied to. As others have mentioned, my coach helped me focus on my stellar work experience and stories to offset my test score, which was absolutely the weakest aspect of my application.
She helped me prep for all my interviews and video essays with several live mock interview sessions and made herself available on multiple occasions so I could run answers by her for specific questions I was preparing for. I ended up with two acceptances (one M7 and one international w/ $) and one T15 waitlist.
2020 has been a year for the books but I am so happy to have tackled it with my coach by my side. She really is so much more than a consultant…a therapist, executive coach, mentor, and most importantly a friend when you need it most, all rolled into one. Thank you!

Let’s talk about my storyI was in Iran struggling to survive and bypass every kind of sanctions and embargoes, internet censorship and shut down, and above all the war.
Through her support, I was able to secure my dream program: the Master’s in Supply Chain Management at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, University of Luxembourg, part of the prestigious MIT SCALE Network.
Angela the Time Traveler: From 13th-Century Iran to My Dream Program
“All human beings are members of one frame, since all at first from the same essence came.
When time afflicts a limb with pain, the other limbs cannot at rest remain.
If thou feel not for other’s misery, a human being is no name for thee.”
By Saadi Shirazi 13th century preeminent Persian poet Written in United Nations headquarters New York, on a plaque beside a gifted Persian carpet
Angela lived this poem when she extended her helping hand to me. I was in Iran struggling to survive and bypass every kind of sanctions and embargoes, internet censorship and shut down, and above all the war. Applying to international programs under those conditions was not just stressful; at times, it felt almost impossible. Angela guided me through every step of my application and opened the door to an extraordinary world of knowledge, and tools.
Through her support, I was able to secure my dream program: the Master’s in Supply Chain Management at the Luxembourg Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management, University of Luxembourg, part of the prestigious MIT SCALE Network. At the same time, with her guidance, I also applied to the MIT Sloan Fellows SFMBA program and was selected for the interview, an achievement I will always be proud of.
But Angela’s impact went far beyond admissions. Her platform helped me reflect deeply on my values, my story, my motivations, and the difficult questions of why I am who I am, why I wanted to pursue this master’s degree, and what purpose I wanted my life to serve. She helped me understand myself better and, more importantly, communicate myself better.
Her teachings continued to help me even after the application process. During my master’s program, I used many of the lessons I learned from Angela in my Leadership course at the University of Luxembourg, especially around self-awareness, values, authenticity, and purposeful communication. In that sense, her work did not only help me get admitted; it helped me grow.
Angela combines a vast vision and knowledge of universities and their application processes with a powerful compassionate sense of humanity. She sees people not only as applicants, but as human beings with stories, fears, dreams, and potential. She challenged me, supported me, and helped me find the clearest and most authentic version of my voice.
I can say this without hesitation: I would go to war for Angela. She changed my path, strengthened my confidence, and helped me move toward a future I once thought was out of reach. I recommend Angela and CareerProtocol with absolute trust and gratitude.

Let’s talk about my storyWhen I started this process in early 2025, I was an engineer at a demanding company, and I was feeling burnt out from test prep.
With Brian in my corner, I applied Round 1 to my top-choice program, was admitted, and ultimately chose not to apply elsewhere because I had already gotten into the school I wanted most.
If you’re overthinking it, talk to Brian
When I started this process in early 2025, I was an engineer at a demanding company, and I was feeling burnt out from test prep. Since none of my peers have MBAs and my network in the MBA world was sparse, I didn’t just need someone to edit essays — I needed a strategist and counselor who could help me spend my time and energy deliberately.
Before working with Brian, I read what felt like every review on Poets & Quants and other admissions sites. I agonized over the decision and at some point I started to become skeptical…how could every consultant have glowing testimonials?
Well, Brian is the real deal.
The process with Brian and Career Protocol started off with heavy introspection and a structured effort to catalog as many life stories as I could. From this, Brian helped me frame and sculpt a cohesive, powerful story from my first blob of word vomit. The essays are unquestionably me — just clearer and more confident. Before, I felt that I could only articulate pieces of my story, though I knew there was something there. But for the first time, I was able to fully articulate it. My positioning didn’t change dramatically; it became clearer, sharper, more dignified.
Brian’s approach is a rare combination of genuine curiosity and pragmatic strategy. He is deeply interested in people and their lived experiences, but he also knows how to frame those experiences with discipline and purpose. Sharing with him parts of my life that I had previously hesitated to write about felt warm and human — never transactional. He pushed me to explore topics I might have avoided and encouraged me to think about my experiences in ways I hadn’t before. Whether it was guidance on networking or perspective on communicating with the adcom, he offered both practical advice and steady judgment.
What surprised me most was how much this process affected my confidence at work. I started showing up with more intentionality and clarity. I felt more grounded in who I was and where I was going. I was promoted after submitting my application but before receiving my admission decision...I genuinely believe the mindset shift from this process played a role.
With Brian in my corner, I applied Round 1 to my top-choice program, was admitted, and ultimately chose not to apply elsewhere because I had already gotten into the school I wanted most. That outcome speaks for itself. I actually paid for two applications and only needed one and would happily do it again for the clarity and confidence I gained.
If you’re analytical, skeptical, or don’t fit the typical MBA archetype — especially engineers or those navigating imposter syndrome — Brian is exceptional. He brings rigor, childlike curiosity, and grounded optimism that’s hard to beat.

Let’s talk about my storyBalancing the application process with my full-time hospice case manager job felt like taking on a second full-time job.
In the end, I was accepted into my first-choice school and received a 40% merit scholarship from another program I was very interested in.
She Is A Partner Who Helps You Understand Your Own Story And Articulate Your Unique Potential
As a Hospice Registered Nurse Case Manager, I genuinely loved the human connection of healthcare but felt limited by a complex system where my impact was restricted to individual cases. I wanted to transition to healthcare leadership through an MBA and gain the ability to influence broader systems. I interviewed three consulting companies, and MBA Protocol stood out because they made the experience feel engaging and connected with applicants at a deeply human level.
I feel truly fortunate to have worked with Tiffany. Her advice and guidance were consistently thoughtful and spot on, but beyond that, she was incredibly easy to talk to, honest in her assessment of difficult situations, and very detail oriented. Her approach helped me find a voice within my story rather than forcing me into a version of myself that did not feel authentic.
Applying to business school is an intense and at times overwhelming process. Balancing the application process with my full-time hospice case manager job felt like taking on a second full-time job. Tiffany’s structured guidance and unwavering support made a tremendous difference throughout the process.
She helped me look back at my personal and professional journey with a completely new perspective, empowering me to recognize my accomplishments and connect pieces of my background into an authentic, meaningful narrative that I’m proud of. She also helped me crystallize my post-MBA vision in a more concrete, thoughtful way.
The skills I gained from working with her are skills I will carry with me long after the MBA application process. Through her coaching, the experience became not only about business school applications, but also about understanding myself more clearly and connecting that understanding to my long-term goals.
In the end, I was accepted into my first-choice school and received a 40% merit scholarship from another program I was very interested in.
A major career pivot can feel incredibly intimidating, especially for those from a non-traditional background. Tiffany created an environment where I could share my experiences and aspirations openly. She is a partner who helps you understand your own story and articulate your unique potential, which makes an enormous difference in the MBA application journey.

Let’s talk about my storyGot into Harvard
I applied to 6 schools, took the GRE from home (19 days before submitting my application), and was running a due diligence project (the most brutal kind that exists) at the same time. It was a mess.
Yes, I got into HBS. Yes, I had the privilege to choose from a handful of M7 schools.
Angela Will Get You Into Your Top Choice And Make You A Better Professional In The Process
Yes, I got into HBS. Yes, I had the privilege to choose from a handful of M7 schools. And no, I don’t have some crazy stats going on. I just had a very compelling story on why I wanted to go to business school, which Angela helped me navigate through the years.
I met Angela back in 2018 when I was considering applying to Business School but I wasn’t sure it was the right path for me. There were still many things I wanted to do before going to business school, but I was afraid I’d be too old by then (you hear all these crazy stats about people (especially women) going into business school super young and I thought I needed to be a certain age to get in). Sounds crazy now, I know. Angela invested in my development before I was even a client of hers. She became my go-to person to test different career paths and encouraged me to take risks.
We stayed connected all throughout and in 2020, with a global pandemic just starting, and MBA program uncertainty, at its peak, I decided to work with Angela. I interviewed other consultants, offering packages for 1/2 or 1/3 of what Angela offered. I have friends who went with them, so I saw first hand the difference in experience.
I applied to 6 schools, took the GRE from home (19 days before submitting my application), and was running a due diligence project (the most brutal kind that exists) at the same time. It was a mess. But without Angela it would have been impossible for me to navigate this whole process. Because you’re going to doubt yourself. You’re going to think that you’re not good enough, and there will be moments in which you think you should just give up. But Angela won’t let you. She will remind you how amazing you are, how much you have achieved, and how giving up is not an option.
Yes. I got into HBS. But that’s not why I’d choose Angela again. I would choose her again because I grew as a person, as a professional, as a friend, and as a partner.

Let’s talk about my storyI suffered a personal tragedy during my applications and she worked extra on the weekends just so we could give our best shot.
Today I’ve secured admits from multiple schools – from Top 15 business schools- including an admit to an IVY league and an M7 business school.
Pockets Of Sunshine
Firstly all the very best to all the prospective applicants. You’re in for a rollercoaster ride. However, I would like to emphasize how working with my coach makes the ride with all its highs and lows, way more enjoyable. Let me elucidate further :
I am from India and before I signed up with her I had spoken to more than 10 consultants across the globe. Career Protocol was one of the expensive ones. From my first call itself, I knew in my gut that she was the one I would like to work with. She shows you a newer perspective of looking at your story and helps you own your story and share it beautifully with the adcoms. I had a very different profile which had its own challenges. Not the quintessential IIT background. However, she ensured that I never felt demotivated especially when anyone told me that I cannot get into XYZ school. We would have weekly calls where she would help me stay on track and motivate me. I suffered a personal tragedy during my applications and she worked extra on the weekends just so we could give our best shot. From day 0, she considers you and herself a team. She even took extra mock interviews to ensure I had multiple admits. Honestly, I used to look forward to our weekly calls because she is so positive yet a realist!
Today I’ve secured admits from multiple schools – from Top 15 business schools- including an admit to an IVY league and an M7 business school. I give her the major credit for the same.
The only regret I have is that I did not enroll earlier ie in April/ May and waited until June.
My coach is your fairy godmother. Trust her, put in the work, and let the magic happen.

Let’s talk about my storyGot into NYU Stern
She helped me apply during the months in which the Covid outbreak made it very difficult at work and home.
We completed my application in less than 5 months and got accepted as soon as I applied since the executive MBA program I applied to reviewed applications in a few weeks and I was able to successfully share my story with the admissions team through my work neatly captured in application.
Absolutely Best Decision - My Coach Is Amazing!
There are a few key people that have helped me reach my goals and my coach is one of them. I could have not gotten this far without her support. She was my admissions coach during my application process at NYU. I had been trying to apply to grad. school for several years but the application process was not easy for me. My coach and the Career Protocol admissions prep program helped me organize the elements of my application and focus on getting it done the right way. We completed my application in less than 5 months and got accepted as soon as I applied since the executive MBA program I applied to reviewed applications in a few weeks and I was able to successfully share my story with the admissions team through my work neatly captured in application. After applying to my first school choice I felt I had covered all the areas that I could cover in the application. Having her support was crucial for me. She helped me perform a complete self-reflection and understand what was really being asked in the interview and application questions. She took the time to get to know me and did a thorough review of my key accomplishments and areas of opportunity that I needed to improve on in my application. She was a pleasure to work with throughout the entire engagement and understood my specific situation. She helped me apply during the months in which the Covid outbreak made it very difficult at work and home. I felt I could always reach out for help and that I had a friend who I could lean on. She also helped me double the size of the scholarship I had been offered for which I am so thankful. Throughout the whole process, I felt supported and empowered. I still do. I was also grateful I always had someone there to help me think through and navigate the steps in the application process (interview, recommendation discussions, work discussion regarding time commitment, conflict resolution for roadblocks that came up). English is my second language plus writing essays for the application didn’t come easily for me and I was just so grateful for my coach’s support in helping me tell my story in a concise manner. A final thought regarding my experience is that I feel supported beyond the admissions process thanks to Career Protocol’s belief in never-ending growth. I’m very thankful to have had the opportunity to work with her and for all the care, support I received and growth I have gained through her work. I can’t find words to express my full gratitude and all she’s done for me. Thank you!!!

About these reviews
Where do they come from?
Clients wrote them on Poets&Quants, on GMAT Club, in notes to us and in the success stories they wrote for our site, starting in 2009. Where a review was posted publicly, the card links to it.
Do you edit them?
Almost never. We choose which sentence to show you, and every sentence is copied exactly, typos included. There are two exceptions. Where a client named a coach who has since moved on, the name now reads “my coach” (or she or he, as the client wrote it), and thank-you titles drop the name. Where a client named the company Angela worked for before, it now reads “the firm”.
Some reviews mention programs I can’t find. Why?
Some reviews mention programs we’ve since retired, like MBA Catalyst and MBA LFG. The coaching behind them is what we do today.
Some reviews say Career Protocol. Is that you?
Yes. MBA Protocol is part of Career Protocol, and older reviews use that name.
Did everyone get in?
No. Some stories here mention dings and waitlists, because those happened too.
Who are the coaches named on the cards?
The MBA Protocol coaching team. Where a client named their coach, the card says so and links to that coach’s page. You can meet the whole team on our About Us page.
