Admissions committee members ran every Tepper interview our clients reported, both on campus and online. Student and alumni interviews do not appear in our data.
Where
Most interviews have been virtual, from 2019 right through 2026. In-person interviews take place on campus in Pittsburgh at the Tepper building, sometimes as an optional part of a campus event.
Interview style
Hybrid behavioral + conversational
Most interviews pair an introduction or resume walk and your goals with a run of short 'tell me about a time' prompts on conflict, diversity, collaboration and influence. Follow-ups are light and the tone stays friendly.
Blind or application read?
Application read (interviewer has the full application). Recent clients say the interviewer had clearly reviewed the entire application. Even when an invitation describes the interview as blind, the interviewer may have read everything, video essays included.
Scheduling
You receive an email invitation and pick a slot from a calendar in the admissions portal. In recent seasons clients could see which adcom member they would meet before choosing a time. In-person invitations have come attached to campus events, and clients have found them a great resource.

What our clients say happens
Clients describe a relaxed 30 to 45 minute conversation with an adcom member. It usually opens with an elevator pitch, an introduction or a resume walk, then moves through goals, why MBA and a set of short behavioral prompts. Conflict and differing viewpoints are the stories requested most, alongside working with people from different backgrounds or what diversity means to you. Why Tepper is often asked but not always; when it was skipped, clients worked it into other answers or their own questions. Some interviewers asked what criteria you are using to choose a program, which works as a why-Tepper question in disguise. Follow-ups are minimal and nothing suggests grilling. Clients consistently report generous time at the end for their own questions, and recent interviewers had read the application closely enough to reference small details.
Although billed as a blind interview, the interviewer said they had reviewed the entire application.
